You know those restaurants that are only open three days a week at the most inconvenient hours, with no signage or online presence, those are only found in East London… so here’s our East London Appetite list 2025.
Leila’s Shop – Delightful rustic lunch spot by Arnold circus in Shoreditch with the freshest ingredients from their shop next door. Menu changes everyday and is written on a chalk bored of course.
Sabretooth: The Restaurant – located in Hoxton and only open from Friday to Sunday serving tasty Indian food at a ridiculously reasonable price.
Story Deli – is an intimate bohemian restaurant in Cambridge Heath. Unique paper thin crust pizzas with salad on top. All the ingredients are organic and the price tag warrants it. I recommend the Fast Eddie pizza and the coffee cheesecake, sure to impress any hot date you bring here.
Lauretta’s Pizzeria – Perfect light pizza on Colombia road with pesto swirls and hot honey toppings. Cute casual date spot.
Short Road Pizza at Three Colts Tavern – Located in Bethnal Green perfect for big groups and splendid thin pizza with fun toppings.
Dough Hands East at The Spurstowe Arms – Hackney hot spot on the weekends and for good reason, make sure to get the nduja on your pizza.
Pockets – Everyone knows about this little felafel stand by London Fields with only one thing on their menu. It lives up to the hype for a quick lunch spot.
Dumbo – French burger place that popped up in shoreditch this summer and looks like it’s staying. The Iines died down yet the quality is the same, great quick fries and burgers.
Osteria Angelina – Most upscale on our list, with this Italian Japanese fusion restaurant by Liverpool street. I recommend you call 2 weeks in advance to get a good reservation.
House of MoMo – Perfect walk-in Nepalese spot in Dolston, highly recommend you get the mango lasi, friend cheese and veg mom’s in the curry sauce.
Lucky & Joy – Located in lower Clapton casual Chinese spot with a very fun colorful flare. If you see pickled peanuts on the menu it’s a must order.
Sushi Show Shoreditch – Every time I come in here it is full of Japanese people so you know it’s good. Great classic simple dress sushi and soups.
Koya Japanese – On Broadway market, yummy casual Japanese spot famous for their katsu curry.
Moko Made – In Haggerston, petite Japanese cafe lunch place with a 7 pound onigiri miso soup special. Great matcha and you must try the strawberry short cake if your their on the weekend.
Uchi – Authentic Japanese restaurant in Hackney, great vegetarian sushi options and a beautiful ambiance.
Towpath – located by the canal in Haggerston prefect for a well made homey lunch ideal for the summer. Closes seasonally so check online.
Manteca – In Shoreditch, is a classic spot known for well made pasta. I recommend a glass of orange wine some focaccia and the Lumache kale suace pasta.
