Ever since I arrived in Sweden, everything has suddenly become very quiet. My battling thoughts have calmed to the sweet sounds of wind and birds. Could it be the clean streets, the early bedtimes, the baby epidemic, and the lack of loitering, drinking, and smoking on the streets? All replaced by the smell of forest trees and socialism.
But Stockholm, Sweden, is a calm and beautiful place but is it a coqueta’s home? That is the question I’ve been pondering for the past six months. What does a coqueta do in this city? Where does she go? Is there space for her never-ending desire for hot spots?
Well, if the coqueta wants to party, not really. But when it comes to eating, there’s plenty.
Appetite

Brasserie Astoria
A delightful French brasserie. Pricey, but worth it. Gorgeous interior and great service. The mushroom pasta is to die for.

Omaka
Creative beers, and just for the bread and butter, it’s worth the trip. You must have the Amalfi beer—it’s so good. It tastes like an orange-vanilla creamsicle.
Chelas
The best Mexican food I’ve had in Europe. And I know Mexican.

Xiang Yue
An under-the-radar Chinese spot that’s only open half the week. A hot spot for the hotties. You must go for the dinner menu. Get the aubergine.

Kouthoofd Familie Winkel
Good wine and great food.

Gazza
Very good Italian food. It’s all about the appetizers. All the waiters sing to you if it’s your birthday.
Café Nizza
Very good, chic Italian food, but expensive.

Goose Alley Pizza Kiosk
Perfect for a sunny day in the Old Town. Pizza by the slice. Get the jalapeño pizza.
Eatnam
There are a couple of these Vietnamese spots around the city, and they’re a classic. Yummy, clean, and fresh. Also gluten-free.
Ta’ameya Falafel
Well-made, crispy falafel with fluffy, fresh pita.

Bulgarian Falafel & Grill
So cheap and so good. Also has the most kitschy red couches.
Bleck
Yummy outdoor lunch spot for a sunny day! Don’t forget a Bloody Mary.

Älskade Traditioner
Super kitschy. Great sweet and salty waffles. Very ’50s diner-inspired.
Skålen
Delicious, very filling salads with every topping you could ever ask for.

Francesco
Cute Italian café. Well-made pasta and pastries.

Studio Canteen
It’s tucked inside a mall, which isn’t exactly the most favorable setting, but don’t let that stop you. The matcha is amazing, and the drinks are interesting. I had never had a kimchi lemonade until I came here. The menu changes every day.

Matchaverket
Best matcha in town. Get an iced banana-bread matcha with almond milk and a warm matcha cookie. You won’t regret it.
Lilla Espresso Bar
Very cute and very cheap. Great glassware.
Drop Coffee Roasters
Fancy little hipster coffee spot.
Volca Coffee
South American café. Get the pan de queso. Not Tequeño-approved.

Svedjan Bageri
Best cinnamon roll of my life
Party

Great Negronis and eclectic art. I’ve heard the lunch is cheap and yummy.
Alba Vinbar, Nytorget
Nice little natural wine bar.

Bar Ninja
Very cute wine spot with all types of natural wines and candlelight.
Twang
A bar with a vintage, eclectic twang.
Volta
The hottest bar/club in Stockholm. Super intimate, good DJs, and well-made drinks. Also very hidden.
Spice 99
A classic spot. Always check the event calendar. Great live artists and DJs. Super-crisp sour tequila sodas. The stickiest floors in the world. Do not wear designer shoes.
