I’ve always heard about Ricardo, and I even think it had a different name before that. It is orange and the font of the capital R is a little distasteful to the eye.
A boy that I really liked once told me one of his best-kept secrets. He confessed to me how much of a gold mine it is for women’s clothing. Apart from him, I only ever met one other person who used the reselling platform. She had some great pieces, and we would exchange screenshots of our saved items.
Being away from Ricardo’s homeland induced less frequent visits on my part, and I slowly replaced him with eBay or Vinted UK (unfortunately) (we will soon write something about Vinted, so keep checking back). The sad thing is the rising prices of Swiss postal service (almost 8 pounds) for anything bigger than an envelope. This situation can no longer sustain bargain vintage shopping on the platform, and it seems the time for a farewell has come (for now).
You can find everything and anything on Ricardo. Its loading background is orange with some doodles of tractors and flower pots, your username is randomly generated and users’ reviews are categorised by three levels of speech bubble smiley faces. Again, it’s not with the sharpest and smartest design but that’s what makes it special. The trick with it is to search the items’ names in German which is amazing for jolting what’s left of my knowledge of the language. Usually if someone asks me where my boots or my bags are from, the only possible answer is Ricardo. When abroad, I just answer “Swiss eBay.” Actually, it might be not that accurate but its bidding essence makes it an acceptable comparison.
